another book review

michaelhuntI AM a born and bred Devonshire boy. As I listened to the chapter ‘Of the Tales Told by the Fireside in the Pipers’ I was taken to that place – and it was wonderful! I was in that book, and such were the descriptions that I could hear the creaking door hinges and I could smell the fire.

I love the moors and creaky doors and olde worlde stuff; and I love this book. With its picturesque details and authentic Devonian characters and dialogues it took me right there – to an old pub somewhere on the edge of the moor.

Charming and atmospheric, but realistic and well researched: The author has certainly done the home-work on our folklore.

It is a wonderful book. Fantastic, amazing and wonderful!
