I AM a born and bred Devonshire boy. As I listened to the chapter ‘Of the Tales Told by the Fireside in the Pipers’ I was taken to that place – and it was wonderful! I was in that book, and such were the descriptions that I could hear the creaking door hinges and I could smell the fire.
I love the moors and creaky doors and olde worlde stuff; and I love this book. With its picturesque details and authentic Devonian characters and dialogues it took me right there – to an old pub somewhere on the edge of the moor.
Charming and atmospheric, but realistic and well researched: The author has certainly done the home-work on our folklore.
It is a wonderful book. Fantastic, amazing and wonderful!

THE FOLK OF THE TWILL
There is nothing more magical and alluring than this Land of Twill, with its most extraordinary inhabitants. Written in a crystal bright language, you become absorbed into this sparkling world of its wonderful people and events. It’s a land we image, dwelling somewhere end of the rainbow that we’ve always, especially as children, wanted to visit, or even live. I myself have a passion to live there.
The author imagines it for us, the story beginning with Lord Oaken and his emergency meeting in the handsome council chamber hall of Hollyberry Hall with its walls ‘ornamented with bas-relief figures of animals and birds and flowers painted with vibrant colours.’ At this meeting sit, as well as keep entering, a fabulous array of characters, from elves to folk of all descriptions. The Vale of Twill, with it accompanying maps, holds many surprises, for there is a new world here to be discovered…

Testimonial from my client:
“I’m very glad that someone has introduced me to Amrita; and I asked her to do some pictures on the walls for me, ’cause she’d showed me the work she had done in the past. I’m very happy with what she had done with my flat – the rooms are now comfy; I feel more relaxed and my insomnia is gone. Before I had trouble sleeping – now I look at the moon and fall asleep quickly.”
