A new book & six new calendars!

GREETINGS TO YOU, you wonderful Tree-huggers and Rainbow-chasers!

Now that we have entered September, the year is gently winding down and the fruits of 2018 are ready for harvest. Some of those fruits I am offering to you now, and I think they are delicious!

NEW BOOK: Lyrizo

Many of you know that some while back I lived in Greece, where I did decorative painting, collected folk tales and wrote songs. A few of those songs were in Greek, a language heretofore unknown to me. But I felt compelled to express my feelings about Nature and Spiritual Growth.

And here is the product – a little bilingual book called Lyrizo. It means ‘I’m playing the lyre’; and LyraLyre in Greek – is, of course, the root of the word lyrics.

CALENDARS

While living in Greece and also on subsequent visits I took lots of pictures. Those pictures, as well as photos taken by a friend, inspired a series of calendars – six to be precise.

The calendars, as well as providing stunning images, also give dates for New and Full Moons, Eclipses, Equinoxes, Solstices and those notorious Mercury retrogrades – things which are good to know!

Let me take you through them…

Firstly a Lyrizo calendar which perfectly complements my new book (above):

Fabulous Seascapes and Arcadian Dream are images of Ionian Sea with its islands and Arcadian countryside. These two calendars are a joint effort.

Next – Expressions I, which is of my painting – both wall art and on canvas.

And finally Expressions II – bits of songs over paint and digital effects.

Full versions of the songs can be found in the previously published The Dance of Life book. Below though is a sample from the calendar:

LAUNCH EVENT

The Launch of both Lyrizo and The Dance of Life will take place in November. The date will be posted, early that month, on facebook on The Folk of the Twill page.

Signed A3 prints of the paintings featured in Expressions I and pages from Expressions II are available upon request – on paper or card.

Due to those unexpected projects, the revision of the third Twill book had been delayed – but now it’s full steam ahead; and only after its publishing I’ll return to The Elemental.

And then, there’s the Under the Gaze of the White Chalk Horse, the fourth Twill book and a few other things hiding in the pipeline……

I’ll keep you updated. Oodles of Love and Heaps of Bright Blessings!

NEWLY PUBLISHED!

Happy Vernal Equinox, beloved Tree-Huggers and Rainbow-Chasers! With all this freezing weather ushering in the New Astrological (and Twill) Year, here is something to warm your hearts and cosily snuggle in bed with – The Dance of Life – a little book (111pages) of inspiring and inspirational lyrics and rhymes.

(I could not resist from including a selection from The Folk of the Twill trilogy, including the last book!)

The first song was written around 2000 and the last one – Under the Gaze of the White Chalk Horse – only a couple of weeks ago (and more about that one later!).

At the moment, there are no plans to make it into an e-book, and I’ll be busy elsewhere: Hopefully, the last of The Twill Trilogy will come out this year. I have started on the revision, but got side-tracked with this and a couple of more projects, including The Elemental.

You can get The Dance of Life by following the link below. See also The Folk of the Twill Facebook page. And if you are ever in need of uplifting your spirits – it’s a perfect book for that; or you can even try using it as I Ching.

Wishing you a wonderful and magical year! Much Love and Bright Blessings to you all,

Amrita

Book 2: Between Two Worlds!

OUT NOW!

Another year has flown – and what an amazing and a busy year it has been! As it comes to an end, I’m very happy to announce that BETWEEN TWO WORLDS is out, at long last! Yes, the second book of The Folk of the Twill trilogy is finally published and ready to face the limelight!

Its first draft was penned between 2012 and 2013; and after that, there’s been additional writing and editing, then more writing and editing, and writing and editing again. There were also alterations and then changing some of it, back to how it was in the beginning! It has been a lengthy, sometimes exhausting, but always a rewarding process for me; and I hope you’ll find it worthy of your wait.

(click the cover to view it larger)

In BETWEEN TWO WORLDS, we revisit the Twill and are reacquainted with Jack Cornwood – the hemp farmer, his friend Clay Dock and the other fabulous personages of the Twill. But it would not be a Twill story, if something totally unexpected didn’t happen. And it does – so we go to new places and meet new characters – some lovely, some loathsome, and some in between; but all very colourful (even if they are not).

I wish you all a Happy Yule and a brilliant New Year! Meanwhile, I return to the third book…

First written in 2014, it is ready to be expanded and edited; edited and expanded some more, and expanded and edited again. There are probably going to be some alterations, and then some of it will be changed back to how it was in the beginning! I hope to bring it out some time next year.

Bright Twill Blessings,

Amrita

review of Book 1

martinbowesI AM ENJOYING the wonderfully descriptive prose of Twill Folk. Indeed it is so beautifully written that I can see and feel the intensity of the colours, the character of the characters, the warmth of the sun etc.

It is hard to imagine that anyone could bring so much colour to words on paper…..wonderful book Amrita.

November news

twillflag02Dear Friend of the Twill
.
As we are approaching the end of this year, and Christmas will be looming ahead before we can say “Blessed Hollyberry!”, I want to update you on my progress.
.
Alas, contrary to my previous expectations, and despite the fact that it is coming on beautifully, the second book of the trilogy will not be published this year, due to unexpected engagements of diverse kinds. In truth, I have to apologise for this slight misinformation and using the word ‘trilogy’.
.
For, in fact, I have known, for some while, about the fourth book wanting to come out, in time. And, of late, whenever I get a free moment, it bombards me so ferociously, that I had to give it space on my desktop alongside its predecessors.
Another one of these diversifications, is working on The Elemental, the script of which predates the birth of the Twill.
.
Hand-written in the last days of March and first of April 2012, it rested while I embarked on the Twill journey. In July of the same year it was typed out in Celtx; and in August, accompanied by my sleep-deprived self (there was a street party, right outside the window, going on all night) it travelled to the capital and was registered with Raindance.
.
Now I’ve decided to make it into a novel, as well. So I’ve been doing an illustration and the covers, both  to be published on the website soon. (You can have a sneak peak at the unfinished products on Amrita  – Playing with Colour Facebook page.)
.
bookcover1500pxTalking about covers, many of you have remarked on the beauty of the first book’s cover, and if you visit the books page (or The Folk of the Twill Facebook page), you can see how it was done.
.
And now, the piece de resistance: Until next year, The Folk of the Twill is reduced in price to its bare minimum (as low as Lulu will allow – remember it’s self-published), and the e-book is free. So take a load off your Christmas shopping, for either of them will make perfect gifts for those who want to discover and be immersed in the magic and beauty of the Twill.
.
THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! – can’t wait for more! ~ Sarah Neighbour.
.
Its language is so rich – it’s a feast – a Rich Golden Feast for Spirit! Really enjoying it! ❤ ~ R.Howard
Bright Blessings,
.

a new book review

twillflag02I BOUGHT this book for a friend after reading extracts and hearing some of the spoken word. It certainly evokes feelings of a Middle Ages alternate reality where characters seem to appear with hidden messages with a feeling that there is more to be foretold. I like the way the author actually seems to be telling the story as if relating from the time and place itself. An unusual and interesting book especially with the addition of maps etc to help the reader visualise the setting to the fullest. I look forward to the future additions in this series.

another book review

michaelhuntI AM a born and bred Devonshire boy. As I listened to the chapter ‘Of the Tales Told by the Fireside in the Pipers’ I was taken to that place – and it was wonderful! I was in that book, and such were the descriptions that I could hear the creaking door hinges and I could smell the fire.

I love the moors and creaky doors and olde worlde stuff; and I love this book. With its picturesque details and authentic Devonian characters and dialogues it took me right there – to an old pub somewhere on the edge of the moor.

Charming and atmospheric, but realistic and well researched: The author has certainly done the home-work on our folklore.

It is a wonderful book. Fantastic, amazing and wonderful!

twillflag02THE FOLK OF THE TWILL

There is nothing more magical and alluring than this Land of Twill, with its most extraordinary inhabitants. Written in a crystal bright language, you become absorbed into this sparkling world of its wonderful people and events. It’s a land we image, dwelling somewhere end of the rainbow that we’ve always, especially as children, wanted to visit, or even live. I myself have a passion to live there.

The author imagines it for us, the story beginning with Lord Oaken and his emergency meeting in the handsome council chamber hall of Hollyberry Hall with its walls ‘ornamented with bas-relief figures of animals and birds and flowers painted with vibrant colours.’ At this meeting sit, as well as keep entering, a fabulous array of characters, from elves to folk of all descriptions. The Vale of Twill, with it accompanying maps, holds many surprises, for there is a new world here to be discovered…
